I think I am coming down with a cold, but I am going to push through this and put up a blog since I wasn't able to yesterday. So a few days ago I got a $10 reward card from Victoria's Secret in the mail and I decided to go to the store to check out their holiday collections. Since the holidays are coming and I they always have these amazing pajamas sets that I adore. As I was walking around the store, I was sad that I didn't see anything that grabbed my attention and just when I was walking out, there was something in the makeup section that caught my eyes. It was the Holiday Limited-edition Midnight Glamour Deluxe Eye Palette. Wow, the name itself was a mouth full. The packaging for this collection was very eye-catching because of the sexy blue and black design on the box and the palette was in a large blue rectangular jewel case. What? Did someone mention makeup and jewelry in the same sentence? Yeah, those two things can catch a girls' attention.

I looked at the case and I loved it. Inside the case are 4 eyeshadow palettes, a black gel liner, and an eye shadow brush. The colors are nothing too special, only the dark blue color to the right is what I was interested in. Again, what sold me was the case. I am a sucka for nice packaging. The eye palette cost $24 and I had a $10 rewards card so it was more like $14 for me.
So, here are some pictures of how the case look like.

 Here are some swatches of the colors from this palette. As I was swatching them, I was disappointed that it was not very pigmented. The first color is off-white with a bit of shimmer in it which I would use as a highlighter.  The second color is a light beige which I would use for all over the lid. The third is a shimmery silver color that can help contour your lid and lastly, the midnight blue can be use for the outer lid for that smokey look. (the midnight blue looks so close to black that it makes me feel like it wasn't even worth it.

A good thing about this palette is that it has instructions in the back of the case on how to apply the eye shadows.

The color was not that pigmented so it didn't show up too well in the pictures and I don't like the feeling of packing on a lot. Also I had some fall outs but not too much.

Overall, I would suggest all of you to save your money unless you don't already have these colors. I have a lot of eye shadow palettes and this is something I can definitely skip on. I should have save the $10 reward card for something else.... like the pajamas. =)

On a happier note, I did find something that I like and it works sort of like a hair clip. Do you ever find yourself having to brush your hair away from your face while you are putting on makeup? I have a lot of baby hairs that tends to have a mind of their own. They are uncontrollable I tell you. Well, I would normally tie my hair up while I do my makeup, but now I can leave my hair down and just slab on two pieces of these velcro on each side to hold back my hair. They are made in Japan.  Japanese people always think about everything! I love it! (I just don't know if this is going to work for a person who has extremely curly hair)

Every Girl Needs a Great Pair of Boots for Fall

Hi Everyone,

I hope all of you had a great weekend. It sure feels like fall in the city and the best part is being able to bring out the boots. I love boots and I can't even count how many I have, but I know for sure that every girl deserves a nice pair. With boots, you can dress up or dress down. It is very versatile and can be worn with different outfits. Recently, I ordered a pair of nice leather boots from Victoria's Secret and I have worn them so much.  I just want to share with you the boots that I got and a simple outfit that can be easily put together. Sometimes you just want to be comfortable and at the same time show some style. Ok, I should get started....

Here is a pair of rusty taupe colored leather boots made from Steve Madden called "Steven." Yes, I like to wear "Steven" on my legs ;). It's a side zip riding boot with a 1 1/2 inch heel. It cost $289, however, since Victoria's Secret is having $75 off if you spend $250 or over plus I had a $20 gift card so I didn't feel so bad about buying this. Also, the shipping was free.  I feel like this boot is nicely stitched and well made with detailed buckles that will enhance any look. I want to show you some pictures of the details that I am talking about.

Here is a simple outfit that you can pair with the boots: T-shirt ($10.50 at Forever 21), Jeans ($34.90 from Alloy.com), Scarf ($12.50 at H &M), and Faux Leather Jacket ($24.50 at Forever 21).

And, if you are going out you can add a jacket over the T-shirt and a scarf to give it more color.

Cooking with SugarCookie- #1: How I cook Seafood Fried Rice

Hi Everyone,

So, I was looking inside my fridge/freezer today thinking what can I cook for dinner.... I saw a bag of frozen shrimp and squid so I decided to make seafood fried rice. During the day I took out the frozen bags of shrimp and squid to thaw so by the time I start cooking dinner the ice will be nicely melted. Everyone who knows me knows that I love to eat. Hey, a way to this girls' heart is food. Even though this is true, I also want to include clothes, bags, shoes, makeup, etc... =o)

Alright back to food. Food always put a smile on my face so I had to include this into my 'beauty' blog I hope you don't mind. I am going to show you step-by-step of how I prepared the seafood and the items that I am going to be adding into this delicious dish. Well, here it goes, get ready!

First, I washed 2 cups of rice. Then I added close to 3 cups of water into the rice pot and put it in the rice cooker.

While the rice was cooking, I started to cut up the squid rings into small squares.

 For the shrimp, I bought them deveined and I just took off the shell.

Then I washed a bowl of mixed vegetables..................................................... 

 and cut up garlic, shallots, and ginger into small pieces.

 Finally, all the ingredients that I wanted to add into my seafood fried rice is all prepped and ready to cook.

 

 Besides the olive oil and the salt, here are the sauces that have I added to the mixture (Oyster sauce, sesame seed oil, and of course soy sauce)

 The rice was also cooked by this time and I let it sit out for a bit until it cools down.

 The first things that I threw into the pan are the garlic and ginger. I cooked them until they start turning light brown.

 Then I added my chopped shallots

 The rest of the item comes in a bit later and I mixed them all together with 3 teaspoons of oyster sauce and 1 1/2 teaspoons of sesame oil. After everything is nicely cooked, I scooped everything from the pan into the large bowl. Looks good already....

Then, I drizzled some olive oil into the empty pan and added the rice and 3-4 teaspoons of low sodium soy sauce ( I don't like eating too much salt).  Lastly, I poured everything from the large bowl back into the pan to be cooked with the rice. Oh yay baby!!! Get in my tummy!

Facial Time!

Hi Everyone,

Do you ever feel like your skin is getting dull? My skin does not feel smooth and youthful as it was before due to aging. Another factor that may cause this is not applying UV protection everyday. Sometimes little freckles will appear out of nowhere on my face (Yeah, I checked and it is not melanoma) or a huge zit will sneak up and "BOOM" it's right there on my chin. These are the times when I would start thinking about taking better care of my skin. I do drink a lot of water and seldomly (it is a word, an adverb, some argued it is not) do I drink anything else because it's good for your body and keeps your skin hydrated. I also love the taste of water.

So, my point is that I want to take better care of my skin and I found a product that I have been trying for the last month. It is called Seikisho Mask White. What this does is it helps suppresses melanin production and prevents the formation of age spots and freckles (just what I need). It is a black goo that comes out from the tube and you take about 1 inch of the product at a time.  Then you apply a thick even layer all over your clean face. The reason you need to apply a thick layer is because once it dries, it is easier to peel off. After 10 minutes you can start to feel it drying up on your face and it creates this airtight black mask that removes dirt and impurities. I would recommend this product to anyone who wants to improve their skin's clarity. That being said after using this product for a few weeks now, I do feel my skin is a bit softer and l love the clean feeling after I peeled off the mask.

 I don't look too happy here =( It is quite thick on so I dont have any facial expressions. Also, ignore my hair I just took a shower.

Pros and Cons about eyelash extensions.

Hi Everyone,

A few months ago I started getting eyelash extensions and I love them. It is important to go to someone you know that will do a good job. There are a lot of places that does it and if they do a sloppy ass job, you will notice your eyelashes flying everywhere. I have always thought about getting it and it wasn't until two of my friends have theirs done. That was when I decided to give it a try and what do you know..... I am very impressed. With eyelash extensions I find myself not having to put on a lot of eye makeup or even eyeliners because it is so full that you can skip out on this. I love waking up and not having to do too much with my eyes. Believe it or not, it does make your eyes bigger and brighter.

Besides all the pros that I have mentioned above, there are some cons.
1) Price- the initial sitting will be from $80- $300 depending on where you go. Then to maintain the fullness of your eyelashes, it is recommended that you go back every 2-3 weeks. Places usually charge depending on how full your eyelashes are. Let say you go back in 2 weeks and you still have more than half of the eyelash extensions, the person may charge you from $20- $100 to maintain it. Since you all know that I don't go to the nail salons to get mani and pedi, this will be sort of my "nail salon" routine.

2) Sleeping on your eyelashes- ok, what I mean by this is sometimes you sleep facing down on your pillow and when you wake up in the morning you find your eyelashes are all crooked and f*ucked up. Well, that happened to me a few times and let me tell you that it was not a pretty sight. I had to get a pair of tweezers and bend them to where I want them.

3) Taking a shower or removing eye makeup- when you take a shower or wash your hair, you just have to be careful of the water. The eyelash extensions are glued to your eyelashes and it can fall off when you exposed them to too much water. The glue that they used are really strong. I remember this one time when the person was putting it on I opened my eyes half way and I can feel a burning sensation. Also, when you are taking off your eye makeup be gentle and I do recommend using a Q-tip.

Other than that, I enjoy having them and I don't know if I can ever go without them......

I Love my Nail Polish collection!

Hey Everyone,

I love colors and one way to express this is through my nail polish collection. I have been collecting this for 1 year now and it is still continuing to grow. I have collections from OPI, China Glaze, Essie, Mac, even nail polish from drugstores. I actually think I can open my own nail salon...... *thinking what I would call it... Diana's Nail Salon?...... yeah very creative.....* I have more than what is shown here... this is just a snap shot of half of my collection. I feel like a hoarder..... I should be on that show on MTV.....

I don't like going to the nail salons to get my nails 'did' because (just speaking for myself) I ruined them so easily and I find it a waste of money. I do my own nails because I like how the polish glides on and of course, much cheaper. The only part I don't like is waiting for them to dry. It is torturous. I usually do my nails at night while I am watching TV, however, I would be so tired and fall asleep with them still wet. Then I wake up finding them smeared on my bed sheets.... See the love/hate relationship....

Recently, I went to Sally Beauty store and I found this magical bottle that says 'Out the Door.' I have seen this in nail salons and I decided to give it a try. It is quite expensive ($10.99) for a fast drying top coat, but because I hate waiting for my nails to dry it was worth the money.  I have used it twice and I like the results. It does dry my nails in 1 minute, but I do recommend you to wait at least 2-3 minutes to make sure it is completely dry. Also, it is a  pretty large bottle so it will probably last me forever....

      My favorite one at the moment is from OPI called 'Barefoot in Barcelona.' It kinda blends in with my skin and at the same time gives it an extra kick. It makes my nail look nice and long. Great for Fall!!!
