Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour: Peridot

Hello Everyone,

Here is a quick blog about the a nail polish that I am currently obsessed with. I have never bought any Chanel nail polish before, but after seeing this color on display, I just couldn't resist.

I have heard mixed feelings about this..... some people complained that it chips easily and others loved it. I am in between. I adore the color very very much (of course, that is why I bought it), but the formula is like any other nail polish that I have used. I have a large nail polish collection so to compare this to my OPIs, I feel that OPIs last longer. The strong duochrome color is what I am impressed with. I have not seen anything with two main colors being so visible. It has both olive-gold and blue-green colors that show up in certain lightings.

The color reminds me of a beautiful shiny green chrome beetle. For me to spend $25 on a nail polish it has to be a color that I have never seen before from other nail polish brand and it's a limited edition. Still, I feel it is expensive.  I better wear this color often to get my use out of it.

I heard a lot of places are sold out of this and people are selling it on ebay for more than $25. I know the mall that I went to still has it so if you are looking for this color, make sure you call your nearby nordstorm first before going.

This is a great color to transition to Fall.

Have a great weekend.

ASTONISH FASHION AND ART MAGAZINE: Issue One- Love, Lust, Desire

Hello Everyone,

Wow, I am posting two blogs today.... Yay!
I want to say congrats to my friend Ryan Chua for publishing his first Fashion and Art Magazine called ASTONISH. It's a magazine that showcase talents and creativities from photographers and models all over the world. I am happy to say that the magazine is out on newsstands NOW. Go grab one!

First Issue: Love, Lust, Desire

The first thing I notice about this magazine is the thickness of the pages. The material speaks for itself. In other words, it is made with good quality paper. Instead of your regular Cosmo and InStyle Fashion magazines, this one definitely stands out as a coffee table magazine. I find myself throwing my Cosmo, Allure, Lucky magazines in the recycling bin after reading it, but ASTONISH magazine is something you can leave on the table as part of a decorating piece to your room.

Just a sneak peek of what is exactly in the magazine....

On shelves now!

Here are the people that worked on this magazine

Congrats again!

Have a great night!

BH cosmetic 120 palettes: Turquoise, Purple, and brown

Hello Everyone,

It's Indian Summer in the city and I feel like putting something colorful on my eyelids. It's weird how it feels more like summer during the Fall in the city.... but I know it won't last long. This is an easy and inexpensive way to give your eyes a pop of color. Hope you enjoy!

Sorry if my eyes look a bit puffy.... not enough sleep. By applying fake lashes will make this look more dramatic, but I am just too lazy to do it. =o(
Trying to get my eyes not too open to wide so the color can pop through.

Here is a more closeup look of the colors. As you can see, there are three main colors that I used... well, actually 4 if you include the highlight color.
I have taken all of these colors from the NEW BH cosmetic 120 eyeshadow palettes 4th edition- currently on sale for $24.46. Get it now before it goes back to $34.95
If you are a new makeup artist or just someone who wants to start collecting makeup, this is a great palette to buy because there are so many colors to play with.

There are two plates of palettes stacked on top of each other. The first plate....
and the second plate.... ALL great colors!
The colors that I used to create this look starts from the second plate.
- turquoise: last row, third column from the left for all over the eyelid.
- Seagreen: 2nd to the last row, first column from the left to create a V near the outer eyelid

From the first plate:
- Pop of purple: last row, 7 column from the left- create a thick line near the upper eyelash.
- Brown: 2nd to the last row, 6 column from the left- create a crease to make have more depth
- Light silver: first row, 5 column from the left- Highlight under the brow and add a bit near the corner of my eyes to brighten it up.

The last few steps are:
- Use a black fluid gel liner to create a thin line on your upper eyelash
- Mascara to thicken and lengthen your eyelashes.
- optional: apply fake lashes for a more finished look.

Have a good night!

September Birchbox

Hello Everyone,

Another month, another gift for myself. =o)
This month is Birchbox's one year anniversary. The box contains items that reflect Birchbox personality which I think summarized what they are about. I am so glad they are doing well and I am looking forward to more beauty surprises every month.

Seeing the pink box makes me happy!

Some people get different items than what I have inside my box depending on how you answer the questions when you signed up. I also like to look at their website to see other items that were sent out this month that I didn't get in my box. This is just a habit. Inside my Birchbox are....

Incoco Nail Polish Applique.... this is very similar to Sally Hansen Salon Effects. It's real nail polish on a strip and it fits all nails. I am excited that I got the Zebra print.

A Friendship Bracelet from Birchbox.
It's very simple but looks nice when you pair it up with other bracelets or it can be worn alone.

Rose Hand Cream from Jurlique.
I don't use hand cream very often, however, I can see myself using this because it smells soooooo good.
It has a nice scent that I don't find too overpowering because I am not big on rose/floral scented creams. This one is definitely an exception.

Another small surprise.....

And inside this small package are.....
Attimo Eau De Toilette from Salvatore Ferragamo. It has a refreshing sweet floral scent that will be nice to wear on a dinner date in Hawaii or somewhere relaxing.

Colorescience Pro- mineral powder SPF 30 in medium. I like the fact it has SPF 30 and helps mattifies my skin after I apply my foundation. I am between a light and a medium, but I prefer the medium to give me a bit of color.

The last item is Jouer Lip Enhancer- it does all three: hydrate, plump, and condition your lips. How fantastic is that? I like the way it feels and my lips do look a little bit plumper without the tingly sensation that other lip plumpers have. An item that I can see myself re-purchasing.

Have a great night!

Metallic Blue Smokey Eye that is suitable for everyday wear

Hello Everyone,

Looking for a dark Fall exotic smokey eye look that is not too dramatic to wear during the day? I have been wearing this look for the past few weeks and I am loving it. I normally like to change up my eye shadows, so for me to wear something for a week means a lot. Playing with a bit of shimmer and metallic helps brighten up my eyes. Give it a try!

The products that I used to create this look:
Too Faced Eye Primer (do not have a picture)
Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil- 002 Hazel
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil- French Fries

- For all over eyelid and some on the middle of the lower eyelid- NYX: Ultra Pearl Mania (I removed the sticker and I can't find the number on the vial- light peach color)- the picture below looks a bit dark.
- Tap a little of NYX Dramatic Chromatic Eyeshadow Pigment in Queen CES 27 (gold pigment) over the  eyelid but not too high.
- Use MAC Carbon Matte to draw a black line across your upper eyelid with a small wing near the end
- Blend MAC Carbon Matte with a smudge brush
- Use NYX Dramatic Chromatic Eyeshadow Pigment in Space CES 22 over the MAC Black Carbon and also dab some on the bottom inner and outer lids.

Use Bobbi Brown Cobalt Ink Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner to tight line your upper eyelash and lower lash. This will help make your eyelashes look thicker.

Top off your eyelashes with They're Real mascara from Benefit. Great formula! I can tell the difference between this and my drugstore mascara.... despite the price. Easy to build up without clumping.

These plastic bristles are amazing. At the tip of this wand there are also small bristles that can help separate your lashes.

I hope this helps.

ROSS: a place to find great decorating items for your room

Hello Everyone,

I picked up a few items from ROSS that I find are great deals. Adding some colors to a room can really change the ambiance and provide a cozier space. Recently, I have been finding myself in wanting to redecorate my room and hopefully, the house. It's important to find sale or bargain items because it can easily be an expensive hobby.

In my room, I had plain white walls and they look very dull. Now, by adding some simple wall art stickers (aka decal stickers) it looks more lively. The wall art stickers are very cheap and can be found anywhere. The reason I like using it is because it is easy to put up and take down without ruining the paint.

Also, a painting can make a big difference. This painting of Audrey Hepburn is from ROSS and it cost $12.99.
Before:                                                           After:

At ROSS, I also bought two ottomans. They are made out of a soft, velvet texture with nice big sparkling jewels embedded. They are $9.99 each. I am very surprised on how well it is made for that price. My puppy loves sitting on these.

The pink and black ottoman with the jewels just make everything come together with my Hayworth jewelry armoire and dresser.

Have a great and peaceful night.

Must have Fall scents for your room

Hello Everyone,

What are your favorite Fall/Winter scents? My favorite scents are sugarcookie, homemade cookies, pumpkin pie, pumpkin patch, spiced cake, etc... everything of that nature. They are back in the store and it's time to stock up. Having candles burning in my room calms me down. Some people like getting massages, but I like having my room smell like pumpkin pies or baked cookies. I just know it puts me in a good mood.

Here are my MUST haves for FALL(you will always see these in my room during this time of the year- guaranteed!)

Starting from the back, I got the potpourri from Bed Bath and Beyond in the scent Spiced Pumpkin. These normally last about 2-3 months, however, I like to change them out after 2 months.

Of course with the potpourri's I need a nice container to store them. What's nicer than a glass decorated with Fall leaves that is on SALE? =o)

The two brands that I buy candles from are Yankee Candles and Slatkin and Company. They have all the best scents. Here is one of my favorite, Pumpkin Pie. Smells awesome.

Currently, I am burning Pumpkin Patch from Bath and Body Works.

As you can see, I can't get enough of these scents so I had to get the room spray too. Yeah, I feel like I am at point of being obsessed.... candles, potpourri, and room sprays.
I want my room to smell like Pier 1 Import during this time of the year.

I don't want to sound really bad, but I also have my car freshener smell like Pumpkin Pie.
I think I will just leave it at that.

Have a great night. I know I will with my room smelling soooooo good.

Getting ready for Fall: starting with one nail polish at a time!

Hello Everyone,

It's after Labor Day and Fall is almost here. YAY!!! I am so excited that I have already picked out my nail colors for this season. Essie has a variety of colors to pick from and I was going crazy not knowing which ones I want, but eventually I was able to solve that dilemma (sarcasm).

Moving on..... the current color that I am wearing is called Shifting Power. It's a nice gold color that matches almost everything and anything. This will definitely be my go-to color if I want to wear something light on my nails this season.

So, the rest of the colors that I end up choosing are:

From Left to Right: Mink Muffs, Power Clutch, Little Brown Dress (this color looks so nice in the bottle even though it is hard to see it in the picture), Shifting Power, Over the Top, Hot Coco, and Wicked.

I can't wait to put all these beautiful colors on my nails......also, I got these for a great price too! *doing the happy dance*

Have a good night!

My Side Project as a Stylist for Morgan

Hello Everyone,

Another one of my side project! This took place probably a month ago and I just have not gotten around to posting this blog. Besides makeup, I do enjoy being a stylist. I love being able to express my creativity in fashion either through what I wear or on others. I don't have a particular style, but I know I like pieces that make big statement, colors that don't necessarily match sometimes, and mixing different styles together. I am a person who would just walk into a store and if nothing stands out, I would just walk back out. I get all my clothes on sale, but I don't search through the sales rack. If the clothes are on a sales rack, it has to pop out at me in order for me to do a second look. My clothes normally range from $10-$70 at most, unless it is something extremely unusual. I normally don't like buying clothes or shoes at full price, except from Forever 21 and H&M since they are not too expensive. Bags, I have to say sometimes I do buy it at full price because I don't like carrying something that is a knock-off from a high end brand. I know.... =o(

Alright, enough of my personal style. Let's get to the meat.

The first outfit is a maxi dress from the Kardashian line on QVC. Original price: $61. Sale Price: $42 (I got it a while ago when there was a promotion)
I paired the dress up with a simple vintage looking medallion from Forever 21: $4.80
Originally, I had a big statement coral necklace from Amrita Singh but it doesn't look right on Morgan so we had to substitute it with a piece that is not too heavy.

Model: Morgan O'Marro
Stylist: Diana
Makeup Artist: Regard
Photographer: Ryan Chua

The next outfit is also a maxi dress, but what I really want to show is the color of the necklace. Even though the dress is simple, the blue gives the outfit that pop of color. It makes the outfit that much more feminine and gives off a vintage feel.
Maxi dress: $28
Necklace: $22

The last outfit is for a nice evening out. The overly sparkly dress from Calvin Klein is a big statement in itself. For the jewelry, I want to emphasize the gold and black a bit more so I paired it with a simple gold chain with black beads. Yes, I like it dramatic sometimes. "Black n yellow, Black n Yellow, Black n Yellow,"- reminds me of that song.
Calvin Klein Dress: $39
Necklace: $16
Large Alice clutch bag from Halston: $89

Clothes are for you to have fun with and to create your own personal style.
Remember, look for sales!
Enjoy!
=( Missing NYC Fashion Week....
